Cabo San Lucas: The Hilton, Fish Tacos and the Lap of Luxury

July 11, 2012 by Judy Lyness 5 Comments

Cabo San Lucas is a tourist destination.  When one walks through the shop lined streets there is no “work-a-day pulse” that simmers just below the surface like Barcelona, Buenos Aries, Naples.  There is the constant hustle by businesses to lure in commerce–beers, tequila, jewelry, food.  Therefore, my expectations were very low when Nahid told me that we were to attend a wedding in Cabo.  The saying that, “people make the place” was never truer than on this trip.

We headed to the Hilton.  And the tone of the weekend was set with the welcome cocktail and relaxed yet attentive service.

As we made our way to our room the beauty of the Hilton revealed itself.

This pool became our home away from home.

In the cabana in the right corner of this photo is where we would swim and have the most delicious seafood tacos.  The seafood, mostly shrimp and  calamari, was accompanied by the creamiest avocado sauce and a tomato picante.  We later invited Nahid’s family to join us for lunch and discovered the restaurant had a name.

It is at this bar that we met executive chef Mauricio Lopez who told us that all the seafood in the tacos is fresh.  Nahid also told Mauricio that it was my birthday as well.  He made reservations for us at Fenicia one on the many restaurants found within the Hilton.

We started our meal with birthday bubbly.

It’s the special touches that make me remember a place.  Like this yin yang olive oil/pesto dish.

It ended with a birthday dessert, compliments of Mauricio.

As the long holiday weekend progressed Nahid and I eased into a pampered life courtesy of the Hilton and it’s staff.

I can’t tell you how wonderful this experience was.  Here’s just a bit more eye candy for those of you who’d like to see more of what to expect from your stay.
